About us

The Network was formed in 2003 by Lady Gilda Levy and Mrs Pinky Lilani OBE in the wake of the attacks of September 11th 2001, which highlighted as never before the hostility that can exist between people of different faiths and cultures.

Our mission is: to work together with women from diverse faiths and cultures to enable them to play an active role in breaking down prejudices and barriers.

WIN aims to promote the harmony of faiths and cultures for the benefit of the public and society in general by:

• Bringing women together to deal with common issues that affect all communities
• Encouraging women to develop skills and self-confidence
• Identifying and overcoming barriers, in order to empower women to achieve their full potential
• Organising educational visits to places of worship, to share knowledge and understanding
• Building partnerships with other organisations

The long term aim of the organisation is to further extend our work regionally and then internationally. We believe that from a network of these groups a strong, combined women’s voice against racism and prejudice can emerge, thus creating a more respectful and safer society.
